New Olympic sports

The Tokyo Olympics may have been delayed by a year but that didn’t stop Eurosport along with other major broadcasters ramping up their sports coverage and diversifying their offering. In October 2019 Technative headed up the Edinburgh to broadcast the European Lead and Speed Championships.

Having watched (and participated in) climbing for years we knew that the Lead climbing in particular needed a revamp in order to be more engaging and exciting. We hadn’t broadcast this discipline before and relished the opportunity to bring something new to the broadcast. Cue the LEADerBar. This shows where the current climber is in relation to the previous athletes, helping create a sense of excitement and allowing anyone to tune in during the broadcast to know what is happening.
