Hi,

You should have learnt by now that we’re a production company. But, where did we come from I hear you ask….read on for a mini history or scroll past the waffle and check out our Showreel!

Based out of Sheffield, we started as a group of friends with a love of climbing and technology. We’re still a group of friends but we’ve grown and now have a passion for all things broadcast; determined to bring you the very best coverage from a range of sports, corporate activities and events. Way back at the beginning of the dream we are living, we were watching a climbing competition and were so disappointed by the quality and content we rashly approached the organisers and persuaded them we could do better. At this point we hadn’t got the equipment or the experience but we had the passion and were given 6 months to go from zero to hero. That first livestream out of a borrowed van, with a mishmash of equipment could definitely have gone better (one of the computers caused a fire in the van!) but ultimately on screen it looked great, the client was over the moon, the climbing community were psyched and we knew something big had just happened to all of us.

Within a few short years we had grown to have our own OB Truck, a suite of 4K cameras, a timing and scoring platform and welcomed in a coding expert to create stunning bespoke graphics. Not only have we grown in expertise and equipment we have grown our client rosta too. We are proud producers of content for Eurosport and the BBC, and have clients including World Curling Federation, IFSC (Europe), British Drift Championships and International Skating Union.

Our Team

Meet the guys, girls and gremlins who make up Technative Live. We're a friendly bunch so why not drop us a line and say hi.

Simon Wadsworth

Simon can usually be found on comms making sure everything s working. Director of the company but still very hands on, when he's not directing a show or talking to people like you, he can be found riding one of his bikes or climbing rocks.

Dave Rhodes

Dave is the other Director at Technative and is Mr Tech. What he doesn't know about AV isn't worth knowing. During streams he is often looking for the best action to create replays, to send to the vision mixer. Dave just can't get away from cameras and is often found behind one even in his free time.

Oliver Hutchinson

The newest member of the Technative family. Oliver, or Ol, is technical producer. He’s an archaeology buff with his own show on Channel 4 but he also loves cycling, climbing and trees - yep he’s one diverse brain!

Ross Cooper

The brains behind all our graphics and custom scoring. As you can see he's not just a whizz at a bit of coding….just like the rest of the Technative team he’s an outdoor lover and climber.

Harry Chaplin

Technical Director, occasional vision mixer and general ‘couldn’t do it without him’, Harry will be hiding in the OB truck for most of the show but he’s no shrinking violet. When he’s not clicking between cameras Harry can be found high on a cliff or raging down a hill on his mountain bike.
